Adel Drake

Adel Drake is Associate Director of IP Operations at Xsensus, where she leads the strategy, systems, and teams that support the firm’s practice. She brings more than 15 years of experience in the intellectual property field of law, encompassing roles as both a patent practitioner and a legal support professional, including paralegal, docketing, and administration experience. Adel operates at the nexus of legal operations, technology, and people leadership. She focuses on building efficient and scalable processes, advancing the adoption of IP and AI technologies, and ensuring the systems and teams that support intellectual property prosecution are positioned to meet evolving client and business needs.

As a patent agent, Adel has hands-on experience across the full front end of prosecution, including portfolio development, conducting inventor interviews, application drafting, and business strategy, across a range of technical areas including consumer products, mechanical, and material arts. Earlier in her career, she worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s technology transfer office where she evaluated invention disclosures in the software and mechanical arts, analyzed prior art, and collaborated with university leadership on patent portfolio investment and licensing decisions.

Prior to joining Xsensus, Adel served as IP Operations Manager at Ice Miller LLP, where she built and administered the firm’s patent and trademark prosecution and docket infrastructure, managed a cross-functional team of paralegals and docket specialists, and led multiple technology platform migrations and initiatives. Earlier in her career she held prosecution-focused roles at IP boutiques and AmLaw 200 firms.

Adel holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from Lafayette College and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
