Peter D. Weinstein, Ph.D., J.D. expertise encompasses intellectual property management, licensing and litigation. Dr. Weinstein is responsible for building substantial and valuable chemical, pharmaceutical and biotech patent portfolios during his career.

Prior to joining the Xsensus team, Dr. Weinstein worked with clients on various aspects of intellectual property protection, general contracting and licensing of IP and other assets, civil and IP litigation assisting start-ups and entrepreneurs help with building and funding their companies as the founder and CEO of Entralta. His technical expertise extends to the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries.

Prior to Entralta, Dr. Weinstein worked as Senior Patent Counsel at Baxter Healthcare Corporation where he was responsible for building substantial IP assets in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotech spaces. During his time at Baxter, Dr. Weinstein was also responsible for licensing efforts related to Baxter’s most valuable assets, managing patent litigations and managing partner relationships. Dr. Weinstein was part of the research core teams that brought Adenovate® and VonVendi® from the lab to the market.

Dr. Weinstein’s clients benefit from his years of experience in the chemical arts where he has prepared and prosecuted patent applications covering small molecules and processes related to the synthesis and use of various chemical entities for industrial and therapeutic uses. Dr. Weinstein’s clients in the pharmaceutical and biotech arts similarly benefit from his years of experience where he has prepared and prosecuted patent applications covering all aspects of biological molecules, including the protection for their use, synthesis, sequence and formulation.

Dr. Weinstein believes that patent prosecution should be an active process and to that end where possible he uses the Track One path for new application before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and conducts personal interviews with the examiners at the USPTO to promote the efficient allowance of patents that contain claims that are relevant to the client’s business objectives.

Dr. Weinstein has worked with and founded multiple start-ups in various industries taking them from formation to funding and partnership/licensure in several industries, including his own company, Medalynx, which recently graduated from the Batchery accelerator and completed its angel funding round.

Dr. Weinstein further brings decades of experience related to all aspects of patent litigation for some of the largest companies in the world in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, software and automotive industries.

Prior to starting his legal/patent career, Dr. Weinstein worked as a scientist at the National Institutes of Health, the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease (USAMRIID) and ImmuCell, Inc. where he commonly used his chemical, molecular biology, cellular biology and histology expertise, which lead to multiple publications of his scientific results.
