About the Position

This junior role plays a vital part in supporting our dynamic team responsible for managing new applications and formalities. You’ll collaborate closely with talented professionals across the firm, gaining valuable experience in intellectual property processes. You’ll also report directly to the Chief Operating Officer, an opportunity for unparalleled insights and mentorship. Beyond your core responsibilities, you’ll also have the chance to contribute to special projects and grow within a forward-thinking IP law firm.

Responsibilities

To succeed in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Assist with tasks relating to new applications from initial receipt to reporting and billing.
  • Assist with various formalities, including Declarations, Assignments, Powers of Attorney, and Information Disclosure Statements.
  • Coordinate tasks and perform quality review.
  • Interface with all members of the firm’s administrative management team as well as the legal professionals on a daily basis to ensure timely completion of duties.
  • Work on other duties or projects as assigned and needed.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient to advanced knowledge in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • High degree of accuracy, excellent attention to detail, as well as strong organizational and prioritization skills to allow switching from one area of responsibility to another while maintaining quality and focus.
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking combined with the ability to work in a team or independently is needed.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rules and procedures

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rules and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
